Community Initiatives

Community outreach is at the core of all the work that we do at the Hartford Health Initiative. Our engagement activities provides increased access to resources and education to enhance the quality of life for residents living in the City of Hartford.

Mask Matters Project

The Mask Matters Project is a collaboration between Hartford Knights, Hartford Health Initiative, and Compass Youth Collaborative. We aim to distribute 10,000 reusable masks to students in Hartford Public Schools as well as through the Compass Peacebuilders program. Each student will receive five masks as well as COVID-19 health information and resources. Through this project we hope to increase knowledge of COVID-19 information and the frequency in which youth wear masks. Stay tuned for data collected through this project.

2019 Back to School Community Health Fair

2018 Back to School Community Health Fair

Our 3rd installment of our annual family event was a success. The purpose of the event is to prepare youth with the essential tools for the upcoming school year and to increase access to health resources for the whole family. We had about 200 people in attendance. We were able to connect people to primary care services and provide preventative screenings such as blood pressure, oxygen, and STI/HIV.
